Mobile phone operators in East Africa will be some of the biggest beneficiaries of the planned switch from analog to digital broadcasting slated for next year. The firms are expected to take up the bandwidth that will be freed under the new system for use in transmitting their signals in one of the many salient benefits that are expected to come with digital television, beyond the much touted better sound and image for television viewers.
